Generations of experience

Ravi has been my connection to India, he tirelessly translates with the Artisans, unearths magnificent natural gemstones, carefully photographs and packs our pieces. You can read more of our story in the blog, it has been, and is, truly amazing.
He brings generations of experience in handcrafted jewellery. Always treating people with a generous human spirit means we know we have the most talented, dedicated and happy people working with us.
Ravi, you are worth your weight in Gold.

Gemstone credentials steeped in history

Our stones are from the archive of a locally renown Gemstone Lapidarist who worked much of his career perfecting the most elite Gemstones for Indian Royalty. He left his earthly body early in 2025 in his glorious 90s. Naturally, his sons and grandchildren carry on his legacy, they are all trained in the family tradition of gemstone sourcing and brilliant gemstone cutting. You'll find a lot of traditional Rose cut gemstones in the SIS Humankind, Precious and Polaris Collections.
It's an honour to share my vision and have them find the right stones, from the right mines for us.
Handcrafting our Moonstone Ningaloo Earrings

Designed for handcrafting

Each piece of Swimming in Stones jewellery takes 10 Artisans to create it.
There is an intersection between technique and instinct that is undeniable. Families hand down traditional techniques through the generations, many are illiterate, many are from villages and ambitious for their children to be educated.
Many of the Ready to Play pieces are produced purely by hand in collets. The Demi Fine jewellery has some more modern technology involved in the CAD process, but human hands craft all aspects.

Honouring traditional techniques

Throughout the collection you'll find traditional techniques in the stone cutting styles that date back centuries and were used in Royal jewels. You'll also find mythical stories that are steeped in cultural significance and magical intent - that naturally translate to the human spirit making it relevant today.

Inspired by the ocean

A Sydney native, Lisa has been a boomerang across the world but always comes back to the ocean-loving city.
Swimming in Stones respects the grave need for ocean conservation so pledges $1 from every piece goes to the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
The brand identity is a watercolour painting by gifted painter, designer and art director, Kelli Anderson. The hand written brand word marque by Steve Liu.

Pretty & Practical Packaging

We collaborated to create the unique Swimming in Stones Scuba Sac, handmade in Australia.

'How we care for our jewels is paramount, so the packaging needs to nurture our precious keepsakes, as well as fit into our lifestyle.' Lisa

It's SIS Scuba Sac is useful; it's versatile, washable, something to protect your jewellery, to keep in your handbag for trips to the beach or gym. The large one has been designed to fit the iPhone.
Lin & Team, we love them!
